Summer Training Briefing and Regular Training

C5, Field Training Uniform (FTU); or
Appropriate civilian attire (ie. black pants, white shirt or polo, black shoes);
Note on Footwear: If you don’t have the FTU boots, cadets can wear an alternate pair of black shoes or boots with either uniform.

Band
There is no band this week due to the Easter break.
Rocketry Introduction Course (Hosted by 872 Squadron)
This course will familiarize you with rockets and space while teaching you how to think like a scientist or an engineer. The content has some theory but is mainly practical, with an emphasis on building, experimenting, and safety.
Sessions will take place on Fridays and Mondays from 7 to 9 PM, starting on April 5, 2024 at Maurice Lapointe School. The dress code is civilian clothes.
This course is for cadets aged 13 and older who are comfortable with physics, some math, and building things. There is space for up to 10 cadets from 706 to participate. Participation is first-come, first-served.
Please note that this is voluntary and as space is limited, there will be no tolerance for misconduct. Cadets who sign up should be prepared to attend each session and participate actively and appropriately.

International Cadet Exchanges
Applications are now open for the International Cadet Exchange Programs.
International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) Interested cadets must meet the following:
17 years old by 6 July 2024
Be younger than 19 years old by the 26 July 2024
Have completed the level 5 program by 30 June 2024
Provide June 2023 school report card (or homeschool report) to Capt Auge

Civil Air Patrol - Cadet Officer School (CAP-COS)
Interested cadets must meet the following:
16 years old by 11 July 2024
Be younger than 19 years old by the 29 July 2024
Have completed the level 4 program by 30 June 2024

Excalibur Cadet Games
Its back! The Excalibur Cadet Games are back for 2024 and will reunite the cadets (air, army and sea) from the Outaouais zone.
Who: Interested Cadets
When: April 27-28 from 0830-1645 Where: University of Ottawa at 125 University Private, Ottawa, ON
Events:
Day 1: JR Dodge Ball; Volleyball; and Amazing Race.
Day 2: DBL ball, Basketball; and SR Dodgeball
Each cadet is allowed to participate in one event, the teams will be made based on the sign up form. The site is also looking for cadet volunteers to referee games.
Sign up by April 5th, 2024. Confirmations to those selected will be sent out after the deadline.
OKPIAPIK 2024
10 cadets from Eastern Region will attend 2024 Camp OKPIAPIK which will occur from 22 to 30 June 2024 at Valcartier CTC.
Cadets will be separated into two groups:
Advance (14-16 yo): Outdoor and adventure, sporting and traditional activities, including two-days canoe & camping excursion.
Leadership (16-18 yo): Leadership skills and experiential learning in addition of outdoor and adventure, sporting and traditional activities.
Travelling dates are 22 and 30 June 2024. Cadets that are expected on a CTC on 30 June 2024, will be transported to this CTC.
Cadets interested in being nominated are to fill out this form. Deadline to sign up is April 11, 2024 at 1800.
Drill Team
We will be holding Drill Team practices on Fridays at All Saints leading into the competition.

Bottle/Can Drive
We are still collecting empty alcohol bottles, cans etc. Bring them to the SSC representative outside 1 Brouillette when we're at Connaught not just to clear out clutter but also to help raise funds for the squadron!
Heated Washroom Facilities
A heated washroom trailer is available for use by everyone located between 2 and 4 Lewis Gun.
This trailer will remain in place for use until the end of April 2024.

Get help: Cadets should contact the Administration Officer CI McLean if they are experiencing issues.
Newly Registered Cadets: They will automatically receive their account information at the email address on file once they are created.

CI Stevens will advise cadets on Thursdays if they have a uniform to pick up.

Drivers
Due to limited space and lighting at Connaught, please follow the parking flow map and instructions below:
Enter via Vickers Gun Rd, then turn left on Brouillette Blvd
Drop-off/pickup occurs on Brouillette Blvd after Lewis Gun Rd (near Squadron HQ).
For pickup at the end of the night, park in the parking lot (not on Brouillette Blvd). Use caution when exiting the parking lot.
IMPORTANT: Exercise caution and patience when driving in this area, as there are many cadets in the parking lot.
Exit via Sir Sam Hughes Rd
Drivers are reminded to slow down.
Posted speed limits at Connaught:
50 km/h on Malibar Blvd,
30 km/h in all other areas.
Speed limits are strictly enforced by Military Police.
