✈ 706 Weekly Messages - 31 January 2024

Updated: Feb 1

There is a change in location and timing for this week's training. See "Training at a museum?" below for details.

Promotion Boards

We are pleased to announce that the promotion process for WO2 and WO1 positions is open. If you are interested in being considered for a promotion, please read the following criteria carefully and sign up as soon as possible.

  • The deadline for WO1 is Monday, 12 February, and the deadline for WO2 is Monday, 19 February.

  • You will need to complete the online form before the deadline. The application should include your details, your achievements as a cadet, and your reasons for wanting a promotion. Here is the link to apply

  • You will also need to attend an interview on 15 February for WO1 and 22 February for WO2, where you will be assessed by a Merit Review Board. The interview will allow us to assess your knowledge, skills, and leadership potential.

  • The promotion parade will be held on 29 February, where the successful candidates will be announced and awarded their new ranks. On the same day, a new Cadet Commandant will also be appointed.

This is a great opportunity for you to advance your cadet career and take on more responsibilities and challenges. We encourage you to apply if you meet the criteria and have the ambition to become a leader.

Good luck!

Francophone Squadron Proposal Survey

There is a project to open a new French squadron in the Ottawa region. To gather information on the response and viability of this project Cadets, Parents, SSC and Staff across Ottawa are each asked to fill out this short survey. Questions and Answers are available in both official languages. The survey shouldn't take more than 5 minutes and is anonymous.

Notices and Reminders

Bottle/Can Drive

We are still collecting empty alcohol bottles, cans etc after the holidays. Bring them to 1 Brouillette next cadet night (as we are at the museum this week) not just to clear out clutter but also to help raise funds for the squadron! Let's make recycling a blast while supporting our cadets!

Heated Washroom Facilities

  1. A heated washroom trailer is available for use by everyone located between 2 and 4 Lewis Gun.

  2. This trailer will remain in place for use until the end of April 2024.

Administration:

  1. Annual Validation:

    1. The Annual Validation Forms are an important part of how we keep all our cadet activities safe for all participants, and the safety of all our cadets is the top priority.

    2. Annual Validation Forms were due Oct 5, 2023.

    3. Starting Dec 1, 2023, the cadets who have not submitted their forms are no longer able to join us for any cadet activity until they do so.

  2. Code of Conduct:

    1. The Cadet Code of Conduct outlines how we expect our cadets to conduct themselves during all cadet activities. It ensures that each cadet has a safe and inclusive environment for their development.

    2. All forms were to be completed and returned to Admin by Oct 19, 2023.

  3. Absences: If you are unable to make it to training, fill out this form before your planned activity to be marked as excused.

  4. Cadet365 Accounts:
