1960 - 1970

Squadron founded

The Squadron received its Charter on 7 Dec 1960, Flight Lieutenant Bob Goudie was the founder and first Commanding Officer 1 Jan 1960 - 1 Jan 1966) of the first Bilingual Air Cadet Squadron in Canada.

Enrolment commenced 4 Jan 61 and training started 1 Feb 61.


First Cadet Enrolled

John Frances Logan was the first cadet to enroll with 706 on 4 Jan 61.


6 Wing Formed

6 Wing was formed, consisting of 51 SQN, 706 SQN and 742 SQN.


Squadron Band Formed

The Squadron Band was formed.

The Squadron was presented with the Taylor Trophy - Awarded to the Top Squadron in the Ottawa Valley.


Maj Bennett appointed CO

Maj. R.G. (Ron) Bennet, CD appointed CO from 01 Jan 66 to 01 Jan 77.


LCol Goudie assumes comand of 6 Wing

Major J.R Goudie was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and assumed command of 6 Wing (1966).


1971 - 1980

Capt Wiaz appointed CO

Capt. J.K. (Jerry) Wiaz appointed CO from 01 Jan 77 to 01 Jan 80.


New sponsor

The Squadron Band ceased to exist.
The Ottawa Central Lions Club took over sponsorship of the Squadron. (1971)


Females join squadron

Females were permitted to join the Air Cadet Program (1973).


1991 - 2000

Cadet Squadron Commander Appointed

WO1 Andrew Douglas appointed Cadet Squadron Commander 01 Sep 93 to 01 Jan 94.
